Our Ethos

Synoptic Engineering was founded in late 2018 with the goal of pursuing advanced technology development while emphasizing people. We view our customers, our partners, our colleagues, and our communities as important stakeholders in our work. We endeavor to build a workplace that values autonomy and individual agency, where each of us feels empowered to continually grow and be our best.

Values

As enshrined in Synoptic’s founding legal documents, we have a dual charter to pursue advanced R&D while also considering our personal and societal responsibilities.

PERSONAL

We presume all colleagues to be creative, honest, insightful, trustworthy, committed, and capable of making important decisions. We believe that each individual has the agency to act as a decision-maker, and important decisions should always be made with an awareness of the insights and concerns of other stakeholders (we call this advice-based decision-making).

SOCIETAL

We aspire to foster a culture of service and responsibility through our research and societal endeavors. Synoptic contributes time, expertise, and financial support to nonprofit organizations whose programs advance education and vocations in sciences and engineering. We provide dedicated paid time off for staff to volunteer in their community in support of these missions.

Performance & Partners

We pursue opportunities to solve novel problems by developing advanced RF technologies and applications of Artificial Intelligence. We believe the most creative solutions are borne from drawing together a diverse and talented team – we often collaborate on projects with experts at other companies, universities, and research labs. In addition to our extensive background in research for U.S. defense needs, we also have a passion for pursuing work that serves civil and commercial sectors, and research with applications in environmental sciences, transportation, and clean energy.
