Challenges Overcome and New Questions Posed in San Diego
December 15, 2022 – The team is back from a long trip out west. Our San Diego data collection was designed to capture RF propagation in surface-based ducting, known to occur in this region, with duct heights much higher than the evaporative ducts we saw in Michigan. Unfortunately, the phenomenon we were looking for did not seem to occur during our visit, but we nevertheless collected interesting data that will serve to spur on future research and new receiver array designs. The team’s engineering prowess shone during a few different challenges while on site. We also had a memorable visit to Scripps’ Coastal Observing Research and Development Center – looks like an amazing place to work, with some really interesting research happening!
